Vacature: promotieplek Universiteit Antwerpen ‘Children’s literature studies and digital humanities’

The Department of Literature in the Faculty of Arts is seeking to fill a full-time (100%) vacancy in the Department of Literature for a

PhD candidate in the area of children’s literature studies and digital humanities

The candidate will be affiliated with the Antwerp Centre for Digital Humanities and Literary Criticism and contribute to the ERC-funded research project “Constructing Age for Young Readers.”

Job description

  • You prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of children’s literature studies and digital humanities.
  • You publish scientific articles related to the research project of the assignment.
  • You contribute to teaching and research in the Faculty of Arts.

Profile and requirements

  • You hold an MA in Literary Studies and/or Digital Humanities.
  • You have an excellent command of Dutch and English.
  • You have a demonstrable interest in studying children’s literature and working with digital tools.
  • You can submit outstanding academic results.
  • The emphases in your teaching correspond to the educational vision of the university.
  • Your academic qualities comply with the requirements stipulated in the university’s policy.
  • You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperative.

We offer

  • a doctoral scholarship for a period of 2 years, renewable for another 2 years after positive evaluation;
  • the start date of the scholarship is 1 February 2019;
  • a gross monthly grant ranging from € 2.373,36 – € 2.516,73;
  • a dynamic and stimulating work environment.

  • Applications can only be submitted online until the closing date of 5 November 2018. It should include a copy of your CV and a cover letter.
  • Candidates will be informed of the pre-selection results by 10 November. Selected candidates will be invited to complete a written assignment.
  • The interviews of the candidates will take place on 16 November 2018.
